Our Organisation

The 2004 Tsunami led to the genesis for H.E.L.P (“Human Education and Liberation for Poor”) as it stands today. HELP Trust is an NGO registered under Trust Act in 2005, we are a 15 year old organization.

Mr. Ganapathirajan, a social activist, started a makeshift school for children who lost everything in the Tsunami. The plight and miserable living conditions of women and children in rural villages of Tirunelveli moved him and he formally started H.E.L.P. H.E.L.P took shape as a non-profit, non religious, non-political, charitable organization (NGO) registered under Govt. of Tamilnadu, with an objective to save underprivileged children who are not enrolled in school and have limited access to basic education in India from prostitution, bonded labour and unskilled employment. The trust works with children, women and youth who are in agriculture, fishing community, daily wage labour and Beedi rolling, living in the slums and remote villages of Tamilnadu. Help Trust also operates in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Bangalore through the Fulfillawish.org Project.

Providing access to education, skills and raising awareness in these children and their families are the main themes Some of the other initiatives run by HELP Trust today (with the support of UNV) are : www.helptrust.org ( a Project aim to provide quality education to children in India), http://tech4edu.org/ ( a portal to connect technology to govt and affordable private schools:- site is under revamp)
